The Baby Language Lab
The Baby Language Lab at the University of Manitoba conducts research to understanding the relationship between infants’ and preschoolers’ everyday language experiences and their language development, using experimental and observational methods. Currently, we have studies examining the use of infant-directed speech in different cultures and languages, and the impact of anxiety and stress on children’s developing language, as well as the role of novel-seeking in infants’ cognitive development. We are always looking for volunteers (babies and preschoolers and their parents or guardians) to come into our lab and participate in our studies. Our studies can range from 30 minutes to 1-2 hours. Participants will receive a study specific honorarium (e.g., small toy and/or gift card) as well as reimbursement for their parking or bus fare.
